The family moved to England when the artist was eight years old and settled in London, where he still lives and works.<\/p><p>In the early\u202f70s,\u202fChaimowicz\u202fbegan creating environments\u00a0which\u00a0visitors\u00a0could\u00a0drink and converse\u00a0in.\u00a0Following\u00a0his non-hierarchical\u202f\u2018furniture philosophy\u2019,\u202fChaimowicz\u202f\u00a0situates pieces of furniture, either designed by himself or by others, in a space\u00a0then\u00a0combines them with fabrics, wallpapers\u00a0and carpets. Through his spaces,\u202fChaimowicz\u202finterrogates\u00a0notions of intimacy and\u00a0reframes\u00a0them\u202fas\u00a0states\u00a0of mind.
